Paths To Knowledge (dot Science)

What is actually real in Objective Reality? How do you know? Now, prove it's real!

EPA MOVES TO CUT OFF ESSENTIAL NUTRIENT FOR PLANTS and Wants You To STOP BREATHING

Posted by pwl on December 7, 2009

FACT: CO2 is an essential nutrient for plants.

FACT: When you exhale you emit CO2!

FACT: EPA MOVED Today to regulate CO2 based upon dubious scientific basis.

FACT: CO2 is LIFE FOR PLANTS.

FACT: Limiting CO2 is limiting an essential nutrient for plants!

FACT: The EPA is against plants which we need to survive!

These are cold hard facts of objective reality. The EPA is ignoring these facts of Nature and playing politics based upon false and unproven anti-CO2 science. Take them to court! Sue the EPA!

Insanity beyond insane. This says it best:

“If all this madness is too much for anyone to bear and you are wondering how did we ever get to this ridiculous point then I highly recommend this documentary, which explains the origin of idioting and how idiots have played a vital role in society for centuries. While many idiots are self taught, this documentary confirms that they have been formally teaching idiocy at the University of East Anglia since at least the 70’s (when the documentary was made).”

“Mr Phil Jones [one of the main Climategate alleged climate scientists who cooked the temperature data and graphs] is no ordinary idiot. He is a lecturer in idiocy at the University of East Anglia. After 3 years of study.. these apprentice idiots receive a diploma of idiocy, a handful of mud and a kick on the face.”

Jeremy

We need real science over the EPA political propaganda!

Since the biggest greenhouse gas in the atmosphere (>85%) is “water vapor” and “clouds” it means that the EPA is going to regulate water vapor and clouds! Insanity.

You are being purposefully stupid, since you know that the EPA knows that carbon dioxide is produced by animals and consumed by plants. It is fairly well understood that increasing carbon dioxide stimulates plants. Like everything else, that can be a mixed blessing. Some plants will be stimulated more than others, and so it might throw something out of balance.

But that is not the point. The point is that it has been known for a long time that increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide will increase the temperature of the earth. Ever since the industrial revolution, we have been mining carbon, turning it into carbon dioxide, and putting it in the air. Too little carbon dioxide, and plants will die. Too much, and the earth will warm up.

People made predictions over a hundred years ago about how use of coal and petroleum would increase carbon dioxide in the air and cause the temperature to go up. So far, they have all been wrong. That doesn’t mean they will always be wrong, but it should make us suspicious of their claims. (I feel the same way about artificial intelligence, by the way.) My chemistry professor in 1973 introduced double-buffering by talking about carbon dioxide and predictions that had been wrong, and explaining that the ocean was using double-buffering to soak up a lot more carbon dioxide than people thought it could. Our knowledge of the earth is so limited!

On the other hand, it is unlikely that you can keep adding carbon dioxide to a system forever without something breaking. We ought to figure out a way to not put any more in than nature can take out. The plans announced by the EPA seemed quite reasonable. There are a lot of unreasonable things that have been said by environmentalists, and it is reasonble to be suspicious of what the EPA is doing, but it is rediculous to say that they are trying to cut off carbon dioxide and that they want us to stop breathing. That is just stupid, and does not help your cause one bit.

By any chance, could they be referring to the East Anglia University of recent “post normal idiocy” fame?

    Hi Ralph,

No I’m most certainly NOT being purposefully stupid. I’m pointing out the insanity of the EPA “declaration” that an essential plant nutrient is a danger to human life. In submarines they have an atmosphere with CO2 at ~8,000 ppm and live in it fine for many months at a time without adverse effects.

As for the claims of the AGW Hypothesis with CO2 as the culprit that has yet to actually be proven with real evidence that is untainted. Unfortunately the Climategate documents confirm how tainted the temperature records data really are. The article “The Smoking Gun At Darwin Zero” gives a good overview of just one weather station and it’s data and the “value added manipulations” done to massage the data towards the “bias” of the pro-AGW Hypothesis. There are thousands of other weather stations that need to be opened up and properly audited to see exactly what the “value added manipulations” are so that reasonable and, if any, only proper adjustments are made rather than obscured and kept secret by the likes of the Climategate alleged scientists.

You’re assumptions that (1) CO2 causes temperature rise and (2) that humans are the cause of that.

As the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment has recently shown the climate models incorrectly use overestimates by about six times for how much heat is kept in by the so called greenhouse effect. In other words the observations from ERBE show that six times as much heat escapes from the Earth as was previously thought. When the oceans heat up more heat escapes into space, 6x more than the climate models use. Toss their results out, and all results based upon them.

Also toss out all papers based upon the temperature data until it’s been properly audited under public scrutiny and the chips land where they may.

I’ll address your other points in a separate comment. Time is a fleeting.

That is the hypothesis, yet to be proven and now in serious trouble due to the Climategate confirmed data manipulation shenanigans that have been ongoing for over a decade.

“Our knowledge of the earth is so limited!”

I couldn’t agree with you more.

I have yet to review their plans in depth, I saw a summary on the news.

Much that seems reasonable isn’t especially when taken in the context of objective reality aka Nature.

It’s a satirical manner of writing, not stupid at all, just using satire to make a point.

I don’t have a cause other than for excellence in science and science education. I do support active work on REAL pollution issues, like carbon soot coming out of coal power plants in the USA and China.

I do support policies that make sense given actual verifiable science, not speculative hypotheses such as AGW that aren’t fully baked. Heck even they admit that their predictions fail which is the hallmark of a falsified hypothesis.

It’s time to go back to the drawing board and get it right this time.
